Irish technology company Nostra is extending its footprint into Northern Ireland with the opening of a new office in the heart of Belfast, underlining its ambition to deliver seamless, all-island IT services and enhance support for its growing client base in the region.
The new site, located at 1 Donegall Square East, Belfast, officially opens on Monday, June 3rd, and is expected to create more than 20 high-skilled jobs over the next year in engineering, cybersecurity, and technical account management.
Established in 2006 by Kevin O’Loughlin, Gary Byrne, and Senan Finucane, Nostra has grown into one of Ireland’s most respected IT managed services providers, with a team of over 330 staff and more than 1,100 clients across Ireland and the UK.
The company specialises in providing:
- IT managed services including proactive monitoring, help desk, infrastructure management and support.
- Outsourced security services covering cyber threat protection, endpoint security, vulnerability assessments and incident response.
- Compliance services with experience in frameworks and regulations such as NIST, NIS2 and the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA).
By opening its Belfast office, Nostra aims to provide clients in Northern Ireland with faster on-site support, stronger account relationships, and access to its full suite of technology services. The team will work closely with the company’s teams in our headquarters in Dublin along with our offices in Cork and Galway to deliver a consistent experience nationwide.
Kevin O’Loughlin, chief executive of Nostra, said the Belfast launch reflects both existing demand and a strategic investment in Northern Ireland’s economic and technological future. “We’re delighted to be opening a permanent base in Belfast,” he said. “The city offers access to top-tier talent, and it’s home to many businesses who need reliable IT and security partners as they scale. We’ve been working in the region for years – now we’ll have a local presence to better serve it.”
He added that hiring is already under way, with Nostra actively recruiting local talent in technical and customer-facing roles.
The expansion comes as businesses across the island face growing demands in digital transformation, data protection and regulatory compliance. For many, managing modern IT infrastructure while staying secure and compliant is increasingly complex – especially in sectors such as finance, legal, manufacturing and professional services.
Nostra’s proposition is built on simplifying this complexity. By offering fully managed, end-to-end IT and security services, the company acts as an outsourced IT department for organisations who need enterprise-grade expertise without building it in-house.
“We go beyond break-fix support,” said O’Loughlin. “Our clients are looking for long-term partners who cannot only maintain systems, but also advise on strategy, anticipate risk, and ensure compliance with evolving regulations like NIS2 and DORA. That’s what we deliver.”
The NIST Cybersecurity Framework is the cornerstone of Nostra’s governance model, providing clients with best-in-class assessment and risk mitigation tools. The company is also helping clients prepare for the implementation of the NIS2 Directive, which comes into effect in October 2024 and will introduce stricter obligations around cybersecurity risk management and reporting. Financial sector clients, meanwhile, are turning to Nostra for support in preparing for DORA, the new EU regulation focused on digital operational resilience.
This strategic focus on compliance and resilience has helped Nostra build long-standing partnerships across regulated industries, as well as drive growth in both public and private sectors.
With a strong track record of client retention and steady growth, the firm is positioning itself as a long-term technology ally for mid-sized and enterprise organisations navigating digital change.
“Our goal isn’t just to support technology – it’s to unlock the value of technology for our clients. That’s what we’re bringing to Belfast,” said O’Loughlin.
A formal launch event will be held on Monday, June 3rd, at the new Belfast office, with interview opportunities and media access available. Business leaders and members of the press are invited to attend
